Love Song for Hong Kong

In the past year I have been working on papercuts, getting the lines just right and the cuts even cleaner. My love song to Hong Kong continues in the latest series focusing on our beloved MTR - all the characters I see and sketch while riding on our efficient transit system. The foregrounds are papercuts made from the blackest paper I could find, while the backgrounds are altered photos of the iconic MTR tiles.

I will be revealing them on 22 - 25 May at the Affordable Art Fair - Booth E08 with HKI Gallery - stop by and see them in person!

Stay jolly, stay creative this season December in the studio

Well, it has been a year hasn't it? Rest assured, the studio is still up and running! 2020 has been a year of paper mobiles for me, as well as working hard on a few more Guardian Dragons and learning oh so much more about paper and all its wonders. I have started teaching some ongoing classes with paint and paper - if you are interested in these please let me know!

I have also started a new range of DIY artwork with the HK Mail Art Club - focusing on the rich and wonderful variety of wildlife found in Hong Kong - you can sign up and get a new DIY art project mailed to your home! Choose from Insects, Birds, Mammals.

Have I told you recently that I appreciate you? Supporting working artists is so very important and I appreciate the interest you show in my work.

On January 22, I began making a daily journal - one made with matchboxes. Each day since then I have been recording my days in a miniature diorama. People have loved them so much that I have started taking requests for 'wish' matchboxes - making small representations of requests for the universe. If you would like one of your own - get in touch!

Also in the studio in February a little wearable magic to get over any blockage. Painting will resume again soon!

Welcome to the new year! We are getting ready for a huge amount of artwork, exhibition and workshops in at the studio in 2019.

WIP
In January I will be working on another Hong Kong Dragon - this one larger than previous ones and incorporating 14 years of experiences in Hong Kong.
This year I will be continuing the series of portraits of women based on conversations I have been having with women over 40 about their relationships to their bodies.

Make your own personalised jewellery from resin. Children old enough to use scissors independently are welcome to join.

Resin Jewellery

Astonish and delight your friends and family with personalised gifts made by you! Please no excuses like, 'I'm not artistic', if you can use a pair of scissors and have opposable thumbs, you can do this workshop and have great results.

In this workshop you will use paper, fabric and other objects into earrings, pendants, cufflinks, lapel pins, hair slides and rings. The possibilities are endless and you can make as many items as you like!

Bookbinding

There are several styles of bookbinding to choose from - Japanese stab binding with soft and hard covers, coptic, accordion and long-stitch. A different technique will be taught each month. Children old enough to use a cutting knife and a needle for simple tasks unaided are welcome to join.

Long- stitch Bookbinding

Longing to make a book? Need to brush up on your stitching skills? Well combine your goals and come make a longstitch book at senselessart Studio!

In this class you will make 1 leather covered book book using long stitch technique. These books make great journals, amazing sketchbooks, fantastic scrap books and jaw dropping presents. Always a winner!
