Do I need to be a professional artist to book?
No, The Retreat welcomes anyone looking for dedicated creative focus - from beginner to experienced artist, there si a space in the studio for you.
How do I get to The Retreat?
The Retreat is located 3 minutes outside of Grand Bend, Ontario, close to The Pinery Provincial Park. When your booking is complete, you will recieve instructions in a welcome package. There is parking available at the venue. If you choose to come by bus, let us know and we will pick you up by car in Grand Bend.
Are Materials provided for self directed stays?
Guests bringing their own ongoing projects should supply their core materials but access to basic studio infrastructure (cutting mats, working surfaces, booking press) is included. Specialty paper packs and tools are also available for purchase on site.
How much access to the studio is there for self directed stays?
The studio is available from 8am to 7 pm every day.
What tools and equipment are available for use in the studio?
The studio includes free use of cutting boards, cutting knives, basic drawing equipment, rulers, working surfaces, lights. There is a sink and heat for the colder days in the studio. If prearranged, access can be granted to a 10w Diode Laser cutter, bookbinding press and table top printing press.
